Draper City Water · Three billing zones
The water has to climb the mountain, too.
For Draper City Water customers, the trip uphill shows up on the bill. The city groups customers by the electricity needed to deliver their water.
Its valley-floor zone, mostly west of I-15, receives water by gravity. The south bench needs pumping. Water for the top of Traverse Mountain and its south slope gets pumped again from the bench, in stages.
That explains the different delivery zones on the city’s water bill. For pressure problems inside the house, we test the supply and the home’s pressure regulator.

What the building years show
A lot of Draper’s growth happened in twenty years.
We counted 9,217 residential parcels built from 1990 through 2009 in the Salt Lake County part of Draper. That’s almost three quarters of the 12,295 properties in our study.
The 1990s account for 4,695 of those parcels, almost as many as the entire 2000s. Even this fast-growing city has a substantial group of homes now more than 25 years old. We repair the plumbing in those homes and install the new work when kitchens, bathrooms and basements change.
September 2026 analysis of 2025 Salt Lake County assessor records, joined to primary addresses inside the mapped Draper boundary. Each parcel with housing units and a valid construction year is counted once. Nine residential records without a valid year are excluded.
This is the Salt Lake County portion of Draper, not the whole city or a count of dwellings. It excludes Utah County properties. Building years do not tell us which plumbing has been replaced. Calculation: 9,217 ÷ 12,295 = 74.97%.
The sprinkler supply doesn’t tell the whole story.
We found 179 residential parcels inside WaterPro’s irrigation boundary but outside its drinking-water boundary. The two published maps cover different ground, even within Draper.
That matters when you’re changing outdoor plumbing. An irrigation connection is not a drinking-water connection. We can help with outdoor faucets and backflow protection, and identify which supply the work belongs to.

We overlaid our 12,295-parcel Salt Lake County sample on the two boundaries published in WaterPro’s service map, retrieved September 10, 2026. Of 5,960 parcels inside the irrigation boundary, 5,781 also fall inside its drinking-water boundary. The remaining 179 do not.
The drawing clips those service areas to the mapped Draper boundary. It is not a live address lookup or evidence that a particular house uses irrigation water.
The National Register history calls the Nielsen-Sanderson House the first home in Draper with hot and cold running water. Built in 1898 on Fort Street, it had plumbing installed by Ted Crowton of Salt Lake City, a cousin of owner Anthon Nielsen.
The wooden sheep on the gables gave it the “Sheep House” nickname.
