Condo garbage disposal swap in Midvale

We got called out to Midvale to change out a garbage disposal that had unexpectedly gone bad. It might seem like a small, simple repair, but it’s the kind people want resolved as quickly as possible. We keep multiple different options stocked on the van, so we can…

Repairs, replacements & installations

What’s going on
at your place?

You can call with a symptom. We don’t expect you to know the name of the broken part.

Softeners & filtration

Already have a softener but still getting scale? We can check the equipment and test the water. New treatment should address what’s actually in your water and how much your household uses.

Why Mountain Man?

A repair you
understand.

Mountain Man is Tyler Nerdin’s plumbing company. Tell us what the fixture is doing, what you’ve tried and whether someone has already looked at it. We’ll explain what we find and price the work before you approve it.

There should be a reason for each part of the job. If a repair needs access through a wall, you should know where we need to open it and who will close it up. If you’re comparing quotes, bring the descriptions of the work along with the totals. A valve repair and a complete replacement can both stop a leak, but they leave you with different work and different costs.

Keeping the house you have working

Before you tear
the bathroom apart.

An old fixture can be worth repairing. A newer bathroom can still have plumbing behind it that needs attention. We want to see what’s actually there before deciding how far the job needs to go.

Start with the part that failed.

Handles, trim and the valve inside the wall are separate pieces. When you send a picture of the shower, include the whole control and a close-up of any name on it. That gives us a starting point for finding the right parts. “It’s an old three-handle shower” leaves quite a few possibilities.

What matters next is whether the valve body is sound and whether the worn parts can be replaced. We also need to know what you want from the bathroom. Getting another useful stretch out of the shower is a different job from moving it, changing the controls or remodeling the room. Tell us which one you have in mind.

Midvale water & sewer

Same city.
Different systems.

The provider at your address matters when a job reaches the water service or sewer connection. It also matters when you’re looking up water-quality information.

Your water doesn’t all come from one place.

Midvale City describes its west-side supply as city-owned wells and its east-side supply as water purchased from Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District. That source information is useful, but it doesn’t identify the company handling service at every address. Confirm your provider when arranging a utility shutdown.

For a softener, we test untreated water at your home. If you already have one, testing water before and after it helps establish whether it’s doing its job. Knowing where the water comes from is a starting point, not a reason to sell you a replacement.

Four sewer providers. Which one is yours?

The city lists Midvale City Public Works, Cottonwood Improvement District, Midvalley Sewer District and Sandy Suburban Improvement District. Midvalley’s homeowner guide explains that the pipe from the property to the public sewer main is privately owned and maintained.

Before digging, the repair needs a location and a defined stretch of pipe. “Replace the sewer” doesn’t tell you whether the price covers the pipe under the house, across the yard or the connection at the main. Access, pavement and landscaping can change the amount of work considerably. We’ll talk through those limits and who handles the restoration.

Heater replacements & remodels

The work around
the new equipment.

Midvale requires permits and inspections for water heater replacements, basement finishes and remodeling. Those belong in the plan before the job starts.

Replacing the water heater

Send the heater’s label and a photo wide enough to show the connections above it and the space around it. The label identifies the equipment. The wider picture helps us see what getting it out and connecting the replacement may involve.

When we price the installation, ask about the existing connections, removal of the old heater and permit and inspection arrangements. If anything needs changing, you should be able to understand what it is and why it’s included. A price for a tank sitting in a store isn’t the installed job.

Finishing a basement or changing a bathroom

Bring the layout to us while it can still change. Where the toilet, shower and sink connect is part of the plumbing plan, along with access to the work. A drawing of the finished room doesn’t show all of that.

Midvale asks for inspection requests at least 24 hours ahead. Leave room for that in the schedule instead of lining up drywall as soon as the plumbing is fitted. We can explain which parts of the job are ready to cover and what still needs inspection.

The price, in plain terms

What does the
price cover?

  1. Name the work. What's being repaired or installed, and what stays.
  2. Check what's included.Parts, labor, access, cleanup and any required permit.
  3. Settle the open questions.Extra work, exclusions and the warranty for this job.

A quote for work at your Midvale home should make the scope clear. Check who handles access and patching, whether any further diagnosis costs extra, and what happens if opening things up reveals more damage.

Found a lower number? Ask us why ours is different. Bring both descriptions of the work. Compare the equipment, repair scope and exclusions before deciding what the difference buys. A higher price alone doesn't prove a better job.

A few things people ask

Before
you book.

Can you repair my old shower, or does it need replacing?

Send a photo of the handles and any visible brand name. We’ll identify the valve and check what parts are available. Our Midvale shower repair used new stems and seats in the existing valve. Yours may need different work; the condition of the valve body and the available parts matter.

Do you take small jobs in Midvale?

Yes. A running toilet, a dripping faucet or one bad shutoff is a plumbing job. Call or text (385) 766-8935, or book online. You don’t need a list of repairs to make the visit worthwhile.

Can you tell me the price before you start?

We explain the repair options and price before you approve the work. Photos can help us understand the job, but we may need to see the connections or diagnose the fault first. If you already have a quote, send the written scope along with the total so we can look at the same work.

What should I send when I book?

Your Midvale address, what stopped working and when it started. A photo of the whole fixture and a close-up of the problem help. For a rental or condo, tell us who approves repairs and whether a manager needs to arrange access or a shared water shutdown.
