We got called out to a rental in the Cottonwood Heights because the tub was in rough shape. The drain was leaking down below and heavily corroded, and the tub spout just would not stop dripping. We deal with these kinds of bathroom repairs all the time, so we got on it right away.

What made the job interesting was the seized tub shoe. It had been leaking long enough that everything under there was a mess, and a lot of crews would have pushed a full valve swap. We used specialized tools and got that shoe out clean, then went after the Price Pfister three-handle shower valve itself.

We rebuilt the valve with common stems, seats, washers, and packing, put the trim back, and restored water so hot, cold, and the diverter all worked right with no drips. Below the tub we fully rebuilt the drain with a new Watco quarter-turn twist waste and overflow plus a new ABS P-trap. That stopped the leak into the joists.

Most plumbers you talk to are replace-it guys. We believe in fixing before replacing, so they got a reliable repair going forward instead of a whole new valve. They were glad they got in touch with us.
