It had been leaking long enough that everything under there was a mess, and a lot of crews would have pushed a full valve swap. We used specialized tools and got that shoe out clean, then went after the Price Pfister three-handle shower valve itself. We rebuilt the valve with common stems, seats, washers, and packing, put the trim back, and restored water so hot, cold, and the diverter all worked right with no drips. Below the tub we fully rebuilt the drain with a new Watco quarter-turn twist waste and overflow plus a new ABS P-trap. That stopped the leak into the joists.
