We recently helped diagnose a pressure issue in a home in North Salt Lake. On the surface it looked fine. Static pressure held when you put a gauge on it, and there was even a gauge after the pressure reducing valve that made everything look okay. The peculiar part was that when you used a lot of water, the pressure would drop off a little. That gauge after the valve was deceptive.

We determined the 3/4″ pressure reducing valve itself was bad. We shut the water down, pulled the old builder-grade PRV, and put in a new Italian Caleffi unit with the integrated gauge and double unions. We like that setup because next time it needs service you may not necessarily need a full plumber call just to get the valve out.

We reconnected to the existing piping, restored water, set pressure in a safe operating range, and checked for leaks and basic operation. By the time we were done everything was flowing well and leak free.
