Ahomeowner in Millcreek reached out after their water heater suddenly failed and started leaking heavily out of the bottom of the tank. The leak was severe enough that they were left completely without hot water and understandably concerned about potential water damage if it continued.Once on site, it didn’t take long to see why the unit failed the way it did. The original installation was not done by a licensed plumber and was missing several required code items. On top of that, the venting was never properly secured, it had completely fallen out of the pipe, creating a serious safety issue in addition to the water leak. The heater had reached the end of its life, and with the condition it was in, repair was not a safe or realistic option. We removed the failed unit and installed a new Bradford White atmospheric water heater, known for their reliability and build quality. The homeowner was opted into a 10-year manufacturer warranty on the tank for added peace of mind. We also brought the entire installation up to current code by adding proper earthquake straps, installing an expansion tank, and correcting the venting so it was fully secured and drafting correctly.Once everything was installed, we thoroughly tested the system to make sure it was operating safely and efficiently. The homeowner now has reliable hot water again and, more importantly, can rest easy knowing the system was installed correctly and won’t be something they need to worry about for many years to come.
