A property manager reached out to us about an indirect water heater that was leaking into the boiler system and causing all kinds of weird issues. Pressure problems, air getting where it shouldn’t, the boiler just never really acting right. After digging into it, the problem was pretty clear. The internal coil inside the indirect tank, the part that uses boiler water to heat the domestic hot water, had developed a pinhole. That meant the boiler system and the domestic water system were no longer separated, and once that happens it turns into a mess fast.Unfortunately, that heater wasn’t something that could be repaired. Once a coil fails internally like that, replacement is really the only correct option. We ended up installing a new 120-gallon U.S. Boiler Alliance LT indirect tank. Everything was repiped cleanly, the system was purged and tested, and once it was fired up it solved the problem completely. The boiler was happy again, and the family now has basically unlimited hot water. One of those jobs where fixing the root issue makes everything else fall back into place.
