We were called out because there was a broken flange when one of our customers went to place themselves. We’re all into helping DIY people—we do strongly believe that if you feel comfortable doing a repair, you should go ahead and do it—but when that goes south, we are always there to help.

We knew exactly what to do in this situation in West Jordan. We reinforced the ring on the closet flange, got the copper stub ready, and installed a new quarter-turn shutoff valve so the supply was solid again. With the flange fixed and the stops in, we could set the customer-supplied toilet the right way.

We properly installed toilet shims and caulked it up, then tested everything thoroughly. It will be an installation that will hold—flange, valve, and toilet all working together without the problems that stopped the DIY attempt.
