A loyal customer in Sandy reached out to us again. We have helped them a few times before and this time they had a new concern. Their home still had the original cast iron sewer line and they mentioned it had never been inspected or cleaned out before. With older homes in Sandy this is very common and they wanted the peace of mind that everything was still in good shape. We were glad to help.

When we opened the floor access we found the main cleanout cap completely seized. It had not been touched in decades so there was no chance of removing it by hand. We carefully cut it out to avoid damaging the threads or the surrounding pipe, then restored the access so it could be serviced properly in the future. Once the cleanout was opened we ran a full camera inspection through the cast iron line. There were no active blockages which was great news, but the inside of the pipe showed heavy scale buildup from years of mineral accumulation. Scale does not always block a drain, but it can narrow the pipe enough to cause slowdowns, snaking problems, or future backups.

We brought the right tool for the job. We set up our flex shaft descaling machine which is designed to safely clean cast iron pipe without damaging the line. We ran it through the system to remove the scale layer and open up the diameter of the pipe again.

After the descaling was complete we sent the camera back through to verify the results. The line was smooth, clear, and flowing the way it should. This gave the homeowner exactly the reassurance they were looking for. Another job done right and another Sandy homeowner who can relax knowing their sewer line is finally inspected, cleaned, and documented.
