BEFORE YOU BUY A NEW SINK
# New sink. Will everything fit?
A new sink has to fit the countertop and the plumbing below it. We handle faucet, water and drain connections. For an undermount sink, a countertop or sink specialist handles mounting the bowl. Use this guide to plan the opening, cabinet space and connections before ordering.

START WITH THE SINK
## How does the bowl sit in the counter?
Plan the mounting and plumbing together so the sink is secure and its connections have room inside the cabinet.
01 Undermount: below the counter
### Undermount: below the counter
The bowl attaches beneath the countertop, leaving the counter edge visible. A sink installer or countertop specialist fits the support and seals the bowl. Once it is securely mounted, the faucet and drain can be connected.
02 Drop-in: a rim on top
### Drop-in: a rim on top
Also called top-mount, this sink rests by its rim on the countertop. Compare its cutout template with the opening, cabinet space and faucet holes before buying. Send us the model and photos to plan the installation.
03 New vanity: check below, too
### New vanity: check below, too
A replacement bathroom cabinet or sink top can move the drain or put a drawer in the pipes’ path. Check the new cabinet’s drawer space and internal dimensions against the supply and drain locations.
AVOID THE LAST-MINUTE SURPRISE
## Three checks before replacement day
1. ### 01 Check the opening and the model
01
### Step 1: Check the opening and the model
Use the manufacturer’s cutout template to check the hole in the countertop. Then compare bowl depth, cabinet clearance and faucet-hole layout.
2. ### 02 Leave room for water to drain
02
### Step 2: Leave room for water to drain
A deeper bowl puts its drain outlet lower in the cabinet, and a garbage disposal needs more space beneath it. Leave room for the P-trap, the curved pipe that holds water to block sewer smells. If the new outlet sits too low to connect to the wall drain with the needed fall, choose a different sink or disposal, or plan to move the wall connection.
3. ### 03 Plan the plumbing appointment
03
### Step 3: Plan the plumbing appointment
Shutoff valves are the small valves that stop water to the faucet. We check access to those valves, the water hoses, faucet connections and drain. Have the bowl securely mounted and the cabinet cleared before the plumbing appointment. Reconnected supply and drain joints need a leak check before the cabinet is loaded up again.
SEE WHAT THE PARTS DO
## Meet the plumbing underneath.
Follow the supply hoses into the faucet and the drain from the basin to the wall. Choose Under the sink in the 3D explorer to see those connections.

Mountain Man Plumbing 79 Google reviews Write a review Posted on Google Liz Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Super helpful and informative. Communicated well and was punctual! Posted on Google Nathan Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler from Mountain Man Plumbing replaced my in-house main water shutoff valve and the pressure reducing valve (PRV) with a very practical new system that enables me to view the line pressure coming in and any drops in pressure easily. Very good looking workmanship.
Prior to the work Tyler came out to my home and provided an estimate on the work, and stuck to the estimate. He's been easy to work with, cleaned up after himself, and also allowed me to change an appointment close to my originally planned estimate appointment over the phone. The website is also easy to use and efficient for scheduling an estimate. Thank you! Posted on Google Jeremy Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had a great experience with Mountain Man Plumbing. Tyler showed up right on time, was professional, and got everything taken care of faster than expected—finishing the entire job in less than a day. He replaced our water heater, took care of the valves, and installed a new expansion tank, all with great attention to detail.
Everything is working perfectly now, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend Tyler and the team if you’re looking for reliable, efficient plumbing work! Posted on Google Dana Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler was very professional, polite and honest. Instead of trying to sell me new parts or a whole new water heater he showed me that some of the heating elements just needed cleaned. I would recommend this company for anyone looking for honest help to get the right fix without getting ripped off. Posted on Google Kyle Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Honest, thorough (caught a problem a couple people had missed), on time/reliable Posted on Google Barb Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Efficient, clean, and knowledgeable. Posted on Google Wendy Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler was great! Hard to find a plumber who preps for a service call like he did. He asked questions before he came over to fix a shower valve so he could make sure he had the right parts for the fixture so he was as efficient as possible when he got here. Communication was great prior to the service call and during. Fixed everything I needed in a couple of hours for a very reasonable price. Posted on Google Ellen Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service, fair pricing, quality work. I feel lucky to have found Tyler Nerdin at Mountain Man Plumbing! Posted on Google Karthik Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler was great. He kept his schedule and his work was flawless. Definitely knows his craft. Posted on Google Jon Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service. Tyler updated everything that had been missed with my old water heater, even unplugged my floor drain. Highly recommended.

## Sink replacement questions, answered
Plan the parts you can reuse and the connections that need to change.
### Do you install or remount undermount sinks?
No. We do not offer undermount installation or remounting. Contact a sink installer or countertop specialist for the bowl, mounting support and countertop work. We can discuss the faucet, drain, shutoff valves and plumbing connections separately.

### Does replacing the sink mean replacing the faucet?
A sound faucet can stay if its mounting fits the new sink and its spout reaches comfortably into the bowl. Send both model numbers so we can check the fit.

### Can a deeper kitchen sink keep the same garbage disposal?
Sometimes. Bowl depth and the disposal’s outlet height both affect the route to the drain in the wall. Check the bowl depth, disposal dimensions and wall-drain height together before ordering.

### Will the old bathroom drain fit the new sink?
Match the drain to the new sink’s opening and overflow design. The overflow is the extra opening near the top of some basins that carries water into the drain. Sinks with and without an overflow can need different drain assemblies; check the sink’s instructions.

### What if the existing sink is loose or pulling away?
Stop using a sink that is separating from its mounting. Have the mounting and support repaired before reconnecting and using the sink.

### What should I send before asking about the plumbing?
Send a photo of the whole sink and countertop, a clear photo inside the cabinet, and the new sink, faucet and disposal model numbers if you have them. Tell us whether the bowl is staying, being replaced or already mounted. That helps us identify the plumbing work and confirm whether we can help.
