We got called out to Draper because a customer’s water softener had failed. The brine tank was constantly running and would not shut off, so after looking it over we decided replacement was the best option instead of chasing a worn-out unit.

We put in a new North Star 45,000-grain softener, set the mineral tank and brine tank, and filled the brine tank with a full load of salt. We reworked the water inlets, re-routed the bypass, and supported the piping so the whole setup would stay solid for years.

Most important, we tested the hardness and programmed the unit from those numbers so it would regenerate right, avoid later trouble, and conserve salt. We finished with leak checks and a basic operation check. With the hardness set correctly and the bypass supported, the house was back on soft water without the constant brine run.
