West Valley City doesn’t run the drinking-water system. Four districts serve the city, and their boundaries cut across ZIP codes.

Take **84128**. Within West Valley, our sample places **7,477 residential properties in Granger-Hunter’s mapped area and 364 in Magna’s**. In 84119, the split is Granger-Hunter and Taylorsville-Bennion.

### Our map, counts & sources

September 2026 Mountain Man MapData analysis. We joined Salt Lake County’s 2025 assessor records to address points inside the municipal boundary, counting each residential parcel with housing units and a valid build year once. We preferred a primary address where available. This is a property sample, not a customer or dwelling count.

Of 32,387 records, 29,652 fall in Granger-Hunter’s mapped area, 1,713 in Kearns, 382 in Magna and 636 in Taylorsville-Bennion. Four fall outside these polygons. None overlap. In 84119, the split is 9,345 Granger-Hunter and 487 Taylorsville-Bennion records.

The water polygons are Utah’s community culinary-service areas with an active end-year of 2024. They show general coverage, not a verified service connection at an individual address.

The district identifies iron and manganese from its groundwater as possible causes.

The color alone doesn’t establish the cause or whether the water is safe. Ask the district to investigate.

### A local cause worth checking first.

Granger-Hunter explains that iron and manganese can settle out in its distribution pipes. Yellow or brown water can appear when wells start up or construction interrupts and restores water flow.

If you’re on that system and the water changes, contact the district before buying treatment equipment for the problem. It asks customers to report these changes so it can investigate.

The leak took about three hours to pin down. Thermal imaging and a look inside the walls helped trace it to the water heater tank. We installed a Bradford White 50-gallon heater with a new expansion tank and drain pan.

### Do you work throughout West Valley City?

Yes. We handle residential plumbing repairs and installations throughout West Valley City. Put your street address into the booking request so we can plan the visit. A West Valley mailing address and a water-district boundary are different things, so include the district name if the job needs an outside shutdown.

### Can I book a small repair?

Yes. Book a running toilet, leaking faucet, broken disposal or shutoff valve just as you would a larger job. Call or text (385) 766-8935, or use Book online. Photos are welcome if you want to show us the problem first.

### Can you repair my water heater before replacing it?

We can diagnose the problem and explain the options. Our West Valley service work includes repairs and replacements. In one local leak investigation, we used thermal imaging and checked inside walls before confirming that the tank itself was leaking. The diagnosis came before the replacement.

### Who do I call for a street leak or meter problem?

Call the water district on your bill. West Valley City does not operate the drinking-water system. Granger-Hunter, Kearns, Magna and Taylorsville-Bennion serve different parts of the city. Their numbers are listed in the water-district section above. For plumbing trouble inside the home, call Mountain Man at (385) 766-8935.

### Can you plumb a basement bathroom or a kitchen remodel?

Yes. We handle the water, drain, vent and gas work needed for the plumbing portion of a remodel. West Valley City lists basement finishing, changes to fixture counts and changes to gas lines among work requiring permits and inspections. Tell us what you want to add or move so we can plan that work with you.

### Who handles a buried water line or sewer repair?

Our water-service-line and sewer guides explain those projects and how to arrange the work. A useful local detail for Granger-Hunter customers: the owner’s water-line responsibility runs from the meter to the building, while the sewer lateral runs all the way to the public sewer main. The boundaries differ even at the same house.

### How do I get a price?
