## Professional Faucet & Sink Diagnostic

    ![](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/west-valley-city-kitchen-sink-drain-prep-for-garbage-disposal.png)

 1. 01 Precise Diagnostics 01

### Step 1: Precise Diagnostics

Every faucet or sink call starts with figuring out what's actually wrong. A drip can be a worn cartridge, a failed ceramic disc, a corroded valve seat, or a cracked ball assembly — they all look the same from above the counter and need very different fixes. A sink leak can be the P-trap, the slip-joint nut, the supply line, the angle stop, the basket strainer, the garbage disposal gasket, or the faucet base — and finding the actual source matters way more than guessing. I diagnose the real problem before pulling out any wrench. [Book Now](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/book-online/)
 2. 02 Transparent Flat-Rate Quote 02

### Step 2: Transparent Flat-Rate Quote

Once I know what's wrong, I give you a clear flat-rate quote — no hourly surprises, no "while I'm here" charges piling up at the end. Repair vs. replace gets laid out plainly so you know whether you're fixing a fixable faucet or putting good money into a unit that's going to fail again in six months. You approve the price before any work begins. [Book Now](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/book-online/)
 3. 03 The Right Parts For The Job 03

### Step 3: The Right Parts For The Job

Brand-name parts from local Utah supply houses — Moen, Delta, Kohler, Pfister, Grohe, Hansgrohe — never the off-brand cartridge a homeowner finds for $8 online that doesn't actually fit their valve. The right cartridge, the right O-rings, the right seat-and-spring kit. Faucets installed with new supply lines and new angle stops where they're needed, not reused on borrowed time. [Book Now](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/book-online/)
 4. 04 Comprehensive Post-Repair Check 04

### Step 4: Comprehensive Post-Repair Check

After the repair, the fixture gets tested under real-world use: full hot, full cold, mix valve through its range, sprayer (if applicable), drain flow under load, every connection checked dry, every nut snugged to the right torque. P-traps and supply connections get a five-minute soak test before I pack up — a leak that shows up after I leave is the most expensive kind of mistake. [Book Now](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/book-online/)
 5. 05 Clean and Respectful Service 05

### Step 5: Clean and Respectful Service

Drop cloths down in the cabinet, towels under every joint, every old part bagged out instead of left in your trash. The cabinet underneath gets wiped before I leave. Your kitchen or bathroom isn't a job site — it's where your family lives, and I treat it that way. [Book Now](https://mtnmanplumbing.com/book-online/)

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler from Mountain Man Plumbing replaced my in-house main water shutoff valve and the pressure reducing valve (PRV) with a very practical new system that enables me to view the line pressure coming in and any drops in pressure easily. Very good looking workmanship. Prior to the work Tyler came out to my home and provided an estimate on the work, and stuck to the estimate. He's been easy to work with, cleaned up after himself, and also allowed me to change an appointment close to my originally planned estimate appointment over the phone. The website is also easy to use and efficient for scheduling an estimate. Thank you!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a great experience with Mountain Man Plumbing. Tyler showed up right on time, was professional, and got everything taken care of faster than expected—finishing the entire job in less than a day. He replaced our water heater, took care of the valves, and installed a new expansion tank, all with great attention to detail. Everything is working perfectly now, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend Tyler and the team if you’re looking for reliable, efficient plumbing work!

      Faucet & Sink Repair

## Why Choose Mountain Man Plumbing for Your Faucet & Sink Repair?

Choosing the right plumber for faucet and sink work matters — most of what goes wrong is small and fixable, but the wrong move (or the wrong replacement part) turns a $15 cartridge into a full faucet replacement nobody needed. At Mountain Man Plumbing, you're not just hiring a plumber — you're getting reliable, expert service grounded in clear values.

  Real Parts

### Brand-Name Parts, Local Supply Houses

Moen, Delta, Kohler, Pfister, Grohe — the actual manufacturer's parts from Utah supply houses, not the off-brand cartridge that looks similar and fails in eight months. Right parts the first time, backed by warranty.

  Repair First

### Repair It If It's Repairable

Most dripping faucets and leaking sinks don't need full replacement. Mountain Man Plumbing diagnoses the actual problem and tells you straight when a repair makes sense vs. when the fixture is past saving. No upselling a new faucet on a worn cartridge.

  Honest Service

### Personalized Customer Experience

Honest pricing, plain-language explanations, no scripted sales playbook trying to turn a faucet repair into a full kitchen plumbing overhaul. Just the right answer for your fixture.

## Questions Homeowners Ask About Our Faucet & Sink Repair Services

Questions Homeowners Ask About Our Drain Cleaning

What counts as faucet and sink repair? Faucet and sink repair covers dripping or leaking faucets, faucet handle problems (won't turn off, won't turn on, leaks at the base, sprays everywhere), sink basin leaks, P-trap leaks, supply line and angle stop failures, garbage disposal repair and replacement, basket strainer and drain assembly issues, faucet replacement, and full sink installation. Kitchen, bathroom, laundry, bar sinks, utility sinks — all of it.

Do you give pricing before starting faucet or sink work? Yes. Flat-rate pricing is the standard — you get the number, sign off, and the work starts. No mystery line items, no "while I'm under here" charges showing up at the end.

Can I text photos of my faucet or sink before booking? Yes — a few photos make a huge difference. Photo of the faucet from above (the brand and model are often visible on the base), photo of the underside of the sink (supply lines, angle stops, P-trap, garbage disposal if there is one), and a close-up of where the leak is coming from. Most faucet calls can be 80% diagnosed before the truck pulls up.

Do you charge a service fee just to come look? Not always. Many faucet and sink issues can be diagnosed remotely from photos and a description of what's happening. If an in-person diagnostic is genuinely needed, the cost and reasoning get explained before anything is scheduled.

How quickly can you come out for a faucet or sink repair? When the schedule allows, same-day or next-day is often possible. An actively dripping faucet, a leaking shutoff that won't close, or a sink that's leaking into the cabinet are the kinds of calls where a quick phone or text is the fastest way to find out what's available.

Can you fix a dripping or leaking faucet? Yes. Dripping faucets are usually a worn cartridge, a failed ceramic disc, a corroded valve seat, or a cracked ball assembly. On older faucets the right move is sometimes a rebuild kit, on others it's a cartridge replacement, and on some it's a full faucet replacement because parts aren't made anymore. Mountain Man Plumbing walks through all three options before pulling anything apart.

Should I repair my faucet or just replace it? Depends on the brand, the age, and what's wrong. Moen, Delta, Kohler, and Pfister all have lifetime warranties on the cartridges in most consumer faucets — meaning the part is often free, you're just paying for labor. A 4-year-old Delta with a stuck cartridge is almost always a repair. A 25-year-old generic builder-grade faucet with corroded internals is almost always a replacement. Mountain Man Plumbing tells you straight which one you've got.

Do you install customer-supplied faucets? Yes, with one caveat: when the box shows up. Complete, decent-quality, compatible faucets install fine. If the faucet is missing the mounting hardware, the supply lines, or the deck plate — or if it's a no-name brand built to fail in 18 months — you'll hear about it before any work begins. Customer-supplied fixtures save real money when the fixture is decent. They cost real money when it isn't.

Can you replace a kitchen or bathroom faucet? Yes. Faucet replacement includes removing the old fixture, replacing the supply lines, replacing the angle stops if they're old or stuck, mounting the new faucet to spec, sealing the deck, and pressure-testing both supplies and the drain connection. New flexible supply lines and new angle stops are almost always worth doing at the same time — they're cheap, and they're what tends to fail next on an older setup.

Can you fix a garbage disposal? Yes. Common disposal issues: humming but not spinning (usually a jammed flywheel — fixable with an Allen wrench on the bottom), spinning but not draining (clog past the disposal), leaking from the bottom (the seal has failed, disposal needs replacement), or completely dead (failed motor or reset button tripped). Mountain Man Plumbing diagnoses which one before recommending repair vs. replacement.

How long should a garbage disposal last? A decent residential disposal (1/2 HP to 3/4 HP InSinkErator, Moen, KitchenAid) typically lasts 8-15 years with average use. If yours is humming, leaking from the bottom, or making grinding noises that weren't there before, it's likely at end-of-life. Replacement is almost always more cost-effective than rebuild on disposals.

Can you replace a sink? Yes. Drop-in, undermount, farmhouse, and bar sinks all install differently and Mountain Man Plumbing handles all three. Sink replacement includes the new mounting hardware, plumber's putty or silicone bedding as appropriate, new drain assembly and basket strainer, P-trap reconnection, supply line and faucet re-hookup, and full leak testing under the cabinet before I leave.

Do you repair or replace shutoff valves and angle stops under the sink? Yes. Stuck or leaking angle stops are one of the most common plumbing repairs in any home, and they're worth doing right because they're your first line of defense in a sink emergency. Modern quarter-turn ball valves are way more reliable than the old multi-turn compression stops most older homes still have — and an upgrade is almost always worth doing while everything's already apart.

My faucet handle is hard to turn or feels gritty — can that be fixed? Yes. Gritty or stiff handle action is almost always a cartridge or valve that has scale and mineral buildup from Utah's hard water. On most faucets the cartridge can be cleaned or replaced and the handle action restored to like-new. Mountain Man Plumbing rebuilds rather than replaces wherever possible.

Why does my faucet leak from the base of the spout? Usually one of three things: the O-rings inside the spout swivel have failed (cheap fix), the cartridge above the swivel has cracked or seated badly, or the valve body itself has a hairline crack (rare, but it happens on older brass). Mountain Man Plumbing diagnoses which one before quoting the work.

My sink sprayer doesn't work — is that fixable? Yes. Sprayers usually fail because of mineral buildup in the spray head, a kinked or cracked sprayer hose, or a failed diverter valve in the faucet body. The fix depends on which one. Mountain Man Plumbing diagnoses before pulling the sprayer apart.

Can you fix a leaking P-trap under my sink? Yes. P-trap leaks are usually the slip-joint nut or washer, the trap itself cracked, or the connection where the trap meets the tailpiece or the wall arm. Sometimes the fix is a five-minute job. Sometimes the trap is corroded enough that the whole assembly needs replacement. You'll know which one before any work starts.

My sink is making gurgling noises when the other sink drains — what is that? That's a venting issue — your drain system is pulling air through the wrong fixture because the proper vent isn't working. It can be a partially clogged vent stack, a dry vent boot, or improperly installed plumbing from a remodel. Mountain Man Plumbing diagnoses the actual cause rather than just blaming the symptom.

Do you work with insurance for sink leak claims? Mountain Man Plumbing can document the work and provide invoices, photos, and cause-of-loss notes for insurance claims (especially when a sink or supply line leak has caused cabinet damage), but doesn't bill insurance directly. You pay for the work and submit to your carrier for reimbursement where covered.

Do you offer second opinions on faucet or sink quotes? Yes. If a quote from another company feels inflated or pushes you toward a full kitchen plumbing replacement on what sounded like a simple repair, Mountain Man Plumbing will review the scope and give you a clear breakdown of what the work actually requires.

What should I do before the plumber arrives for faucet or sink work? Clear out under the cabinet so I can get to the supply lines, angle stops, and P-trap without unpacking your cleaning supplies first. If you know your faucet brand, having that info handy speeds things up. If something's actively leaking, close the angle stops under the sink (or the main water shutoff if you can't close those).

Can you help if I do not know where my main water shutoff is? Yes. A lot of homeowners don't find theirs until water's already on the cabinet floor. Mountain Man Plumbing will identify your main shutoff, fixture stops, and anything else worth knowing before the next leak.

Are you licensed and insured in Utah? Yes — fully licensed and insured. Master Plumber License #12992295-5501. Homeowners who want to verify can use the public lookup at the Utah Division of Professional Licensing.

What areas do you service for faucet and sink repair? Mountain Man Plumbing serves Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, West Jordan, West Valley City, Murray, Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, Taylorsville, Herriman, Riverton, Holladay, Midvale, and the broader Salt Lake County area. We also handle Park City (Summit County), Alta, and Lehi (Utah County).

What makes Mountain Man Plumbing different from larger plumbing companies on faucet and sink work? Locally owned, residential-focused, and run without the scripted sales playbook the bigger outfits use. Where the chain shops show up with a tablet full of stacked options trying to turn a cartridge swap into a full faucet replacement quote, Mountain Man Plumbing shows up with a diagnosis, an honest scope of work, and one fair price. You get a Master Plumber on every call, not a "comfort advisor" upselling things you don't need.
